Application

Q: I cannot access the entry sheet.
A: E-mail to Takamatsu International Piano Competition Office (jimukyoku04@tipc.jp).

Q: Can I change the repertoire I entered in the entry sheet for Round 1 through Final Round?
A: Yes, you can make changes.

Q: Do I need to pay a competition entry fee when I apply?
A: You don’t have to pay the competition entry fee when you apply. If you pass the preliminary selection and decide to participate in the competition, you are required to pay the competition entry fee of 20,000 yen.

Preliminary Selection

Q: How do I record a video for the preliminary selection?
A: Please observe the following when you record your performance.

  • The performance must be filmed and recorded on or after October 1, 2024.
  • The camera must be fixed and capture the performer’s face and hands at the same time.
  • Each piece must be recorded one at a time without stopping the camera.
  • Video files should be saved in MP4, A:VI, MOV, or WMV format.
  • The videos as below are not eligible for judging.
    ― Re-edited or processed videos, including the display of a performer’s name and piece titles.
    ― The videos that contain performances other than the repertoire.


Q: Do I have to send all three pieces for preliminary selection in one file?
A: Please send the three pieces as separate files. You need to send three files in total.

Q: Can I record three pieces for preliminary selection in different places and on different dates?
A: Yes, you can.

Q: When will the result of the preliminary selection be announced?
A: All applicants will be notified of the screening results on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Applicants who have passed the preliminary screening will be posted on the official website on the same day.

Round 1 through Final

Q: How is the time limit for each round measured?
A: The measurement starts from the first note of the performance and ends at the end of the performance.

Q: Are practice opportunities provided?
A: Practice opportunities shall be provided free of charge during the Competition. Please see 5-7 Practice of the Application Guidelines

Miscellaneous

Q: I was told that an invitation letter is required at the time of visa application to enter Japan.
A: TIPC Office will prepare and send an invitation letter upon request. It may take a while to prepare and send the invitation letter, so kindly contact the Office as soon as possible.
