Adviser IKEDA Toyohito
Governor of Kagawa Prefecture
The Takamatsu International Piano Competition has been held once every four years since its inception in 2006, and has attracted attention from Japan and around the world as a gateway to success for young musicians aiming for the world stage.
I would like to express my deep respect for the enthusiasm and tireless efforts of Chairperson Ayada, the members of the Organizing Committee, and the many people involved in the music industry, businesses, and cultural and artistic organizations in Kagawa Prefecture.
This competition has developed and expanded over the years, and the winners of past prizes are now active around the world. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many pianists who have returned to Kagawa Prefecture to perform and share their wisdom with young pianists in the prefecture.
We have high expectations that the sixth competition, to be held in 2026, will feature performances of an even higher level than before, and that we will be able to share the greatness of this competition with the residents of Kagawa Prefecture.
As a prefecture, we are working to create communities that make the most of our unique cultural and artistic resources, and to create an environment that fosters not only culture and the arts, but human resources, as well. Through this, we are aiming to realize the slogan: “Kagawa, where everyone can shine”.
As such, we are very pleased that preparations are steadily underway for this competition, and we hope that you will all continue to support the promotion of culture and the arts in our prefecture.
It is our hope that this competition will continue to grow and develop into a musical event that attracts many people from both Japan and abroad.
